The large inflammatory head mass in chronic pancreatitis is sometimes difficult to treat in the context of portal venous hypertension, biliary obstruction and advanced local and perivascular inflammation. The video demonstrates our experience in treating advanced chronic pancreatitis and large inflammatory pancreatic head tumors with the Beger operation. We demonstrate the technical details and pitfalls of this operation and the potential modifications including an internal biliodigestive anastomosis. We also demonstrate our experience with this surgical procedure in over 80 patients.
