Laparoscopic Component Separation in Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction
Karem C. Harth, Jeffrey A. Blatnik*, Michael J. Rosen
General Surgery, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland, OH

Open component separation has traditionally been used in the setting of complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Laparoscopic component separation technique offers an alternative by avoiding the large lipocutaneous flaps required in an open approach. This technique has been associated with decreased wound morbidity. This video instructs surgeons on how to perform laparoscopic component separation as an adjunct to complex abdominal wall reconstruction.
