LAPAROSCOPIC MEDIAN ARCUATE LIGAMENT RELEASE FOR CELIAC ARTERY COMPRESSION SYNDROME
Brian R. Davis*, Benjamin Clapp, Richard W. McCallum
Texas Tech Health Sciences Center E, El Paso, TX

A 32-year old woman presented with a 60 lb. weight loss and was diagnosed with celiac artry compression syndrome by trans-abdominal ultrasound (flow velocity >400 cm/s). Laproscopic median arcute ligament release was completed with dissection onto the celiac axis after identification and division of the inferior phrenic artery. Ultrasound demonstrated flow velocity change from over 400 cm/s to less than 200 cm/s. Discharge occurred on post-operative day 2. Follow up at 30 and 90 day intervals demonstrated symptomatic resolution and significant weight gain. Laparoscopic median arcuate ligament release can be safely and effectively performed with avoidance of vascular complications.
