Hiatal Hernia Recurrence Following Mesh and Non-Mesh Repair
Hubert Kim, Kevin M. Reavis*, Ninh T. Nguyen
UCI Medical Center, Orange, CA

Paraesophageal hernias are common in Western countries and are also more frequently seen in the elderly and the obese. Despite mesh reinforcement of hiatal hernias, recurrence is high (up to 40% in large hernias). This is a video presentation of the pattern of hiatal hernia recurrence following mesh and non-mesh repair and how to approach this challenging problem.
