IntroductionA pelvic kidney anomaly, occurring in 1 in 700 live births, is a common variation that poses challenges in elective colorectal surgeries, especially with prior abdominal surgeries and infections.
Case ReportA 72-year-old woman with a pelvic kidney anomaly and multiple prior surgeries presented with recurrent diverticulitis. Robotic-assisted sigmoidectomy addressed severe adhesions, scarring, and a bladder defect, which were repaired robotically. The sigmoid colon was resected, and colorectal anastomosis completed. The patient was discharged without complications.
ConclusionRobotic-assisted surgery ensures precision and improved outcomes in challenging colorectal cases.
