Chronic pancreatitis is a challenging and heterogenous disease. With correct patient selection, surgical management provides durable therapy. Surgery in chronic pancreatitis is complicated by inflammation, dense adhesions, and vascular remodeling. Correct positioning of the left hand around the pancreatic head is key in order to control vascular supply, understand the correct depth of dissection, and maintain traction during pancreatic head resections. This video abstract highlights the left hand’s importance during two duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resections.
