LAPAROSCOPIC HIATAL HERNIA REPAIR WITH THE REFLUXSTOP PROCEDURE
Joerg Zehetner*, Ioannis Linas, Yannick Fringeli
Surgery, Clinic Beau-Site Berne, Bern, Switzerland

Laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery with the RefluxStop procedure is spreading in Europe; the procedure with its silicone device is not FDA approved.
The RefluxStop procedure addresses all 3 components of the anti-reflux barrier, by 1. the laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair, 2. wide dissection in the mediastinum to achieve 4-6cm intraabdominal length, to bring the LES in a “super natural intraabdominal position, and 3. recreation of the flap valve at the angle of HIS by creating a 90 degree esophago-gastric plication. The 22mm round silicone RefluxStop device is then placed in a high-up and close to the esophagus fundic pocket, to stabilize the repair in the correct position.
