Linhai Cheng, Jun Xiao, Frances Y. Hu, Jiping Wang*
Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA

For tumors at the Aorta-Caval space, the traditional approach is using Cattel-Braasch and Kocher maneuver, which involving the mobilization of the terminal ileum, right colon, duodenum, and pancreas. For patients with large body mass index and/or central obesity, the increased thickness of the abdominal wall decreases the effective length of incision and the excessive fat/thicken mesentery limits the range of motion of viscera, which further decreases efficacy of the exposure. This video described an innovative surgery procedure: Using intraureteral indocyanine green guided robotic Transabdominal Inferior Retroperitoneal Approach (TIRA) to resect a retroperitoneal schwannoma.
