LAPAROSCOPIC ROBOTIC-ASSISTED PARAESOPHAGEAL HERNIA REPAIR COMPLICATED BY PULMONARY CYST
Michael Shockley*, Luis F. Serrano
General Surgery, UCF/HCA GME Consortium of Greater Orlando, Orlando, FL

This case is a laparoscopic robotic-assisted paraesophageal hernia repair that was complicated by dissection of a right pulmonary cyst. The patient is a 70-year-old female, who presented to the hospital with abdominal pain and dysphagia. On CT, a type IV paraesophageal hernia as well as a large right pulmonary cyst were noted. The video demonstrates excision of the hernia sac with meticulous dissection from the pulmonary cyst. The diaphragmatic defect was closed, then reinforced with a biologic mesh. A Toupet fundoplication was performed. This case is unique in the challenge of the dissection due to the right pulmonary cyst in combination with the size of the type IV paraesophageal hernia.
