A NOVEL MULTI-TASKING, NON-ROBOTIC PLATFORM FOR ENDOSCOPIC SUBMUCOSAL DISSECTION

Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, MA

A new multi-tasking, non-robotic endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) platform has been developed to improve stability and manipulation of tissue within the colon. We highlight key features of this single-use, dual-balloon platform in a porcine model. The device is comprised of a flexible sheath attached over a standard colonosope along with two working channels for use of articulating instruments to facilitate manipulation of tissue and dissection. While clinical translation of this platform is needed, this device has the potential to improve the learning curve for ESD, decrease procedure-associated complications, and reduce the need for surgery for superficial colorectal lesions.
