ROBOTIC REPAIR OF MORGAGNI HERNIA
SURGERY, BAPTIST HEALTH SYSTEMS, Birmingham, AL
A very pleasant 37 y.o. year-old male presented for treatment of symptomatic diaphragmatic hernia. The hernia contained right colon and ileum. The margins of the defect measured 7 x 5 cm. A preperitoneal dissection was performed approximately 10 cm caudal to the hernia with a transverse incision. The hernia defect was then closed using 2 0 Prolene V lock x2 meeting in the middle. Next a 10 x 15 piece of Prolene soft mesh was introduced and secured pulse during the abdominal side of the diaphragmatic repair. The falciform ligament was then tacked to the anterior abdominal peritoneum of the right side in order to protect the bowel from the mesh. The mesh would be completely covered by liver.
