ESD requires precise movement of the scope tip with a “hot”needle knife extended from the tip to cut the mucosal and submucosa. Most endoscopists lack this skill since they perform biopsy or polypectomy with the scope tip stationary; the forceps or snare is pushed to the lesion and then pulled back. This model allows MD’s interested in ESD to learn to accurately move the scope tip with an instrument protruding . A hollow plastic tube with a window cutout into which a line figure is placed serves as colon. Ink is injected into a sclerotherapy catheter with felt pen tip inserted in the end and the patterns are traced and then analyzed. The model and early results are shown.
