A LAPAROSCOPIC GLISSONIAN APPROACH FOR A LEFT LATERAL SECTIONECTOMY: TWO-PORT TECHNIQUE
Wen-Liang Fang*, Carlos U. Corvera
Surgery, UCSF, San Francisco, CA

The patient is a 60 year-old woman with a symptomatic giant hemangioma of the left liver. An 11 mm port is placed at the umbilicus. The second port is placed at the suprapubic position using a limited Pfannenstiel incision. A miniture gel port is applied that accepts two additional trochars; 12 and 5 mm. The portal pedicles to segments 2 & 3 are exposed and divided using a linear endoGIA stapler. The parenchyma is then divided using a bipolar device. The main branch of the left hepatic vein is exposed and divided. The left triangular ligament is incised. The specimen is placed into an endo catch bag and retrieved through the suprapubic incision by a fragmentation technique.
